Root & Return 2026: A Weekend to Root, Rest, and Return

Last month, we gathered in the canyons of Southern California for our very first Root & Return — a community camping retreat created in honor of Earth Month and inspired by a shared desire to slow down, reconnect, and remember what it feels like to simply be.

In a world that often asks us to do more, move faster, and stay constantly connected, Root & Return was born from a different intention: to create space for rest, reflection, and meaningful connection — with ourselves, with one another, and with the natural world.

Why Root & Return?

At its heart, Root & Return is about three simple things:

Rooting into presence, nature, and what matters most.

Resting the nervous system through spaciousness and simplicity.

Returning to ourselves with greater clarity, softness, and intention.

Less about productivity and more about presence, the weekend unfolded with a gentle rhythm that allowed everyone to settle into nature and into community.

Shared Meals, Shared Stories

Over the course of the weekend, we gathered around meals that nourished not only our bodies but also our conversations. From yakitori around the welcome table to Korean comfort food shared family-style, food became one of the ways we cared for one another.

There was laughter over breakfast matcha, moments of stillness during journaling, playful group games, and quiet conversations that stretched long into the evening around the fire.

Some arrived knowing no one.

Many left feeling like they had found new friends.

Skincare as Meditation

One of the most special moments of the weekend was gathering for a "Skincare as Meditation" experience with House of Honey Belle.

Rather than approaching skincare as another task or routine, we explored it as a practice of presence — an opportunity to slow down, engage the senses, and reconnect with ourselves through touch and intention.

Together, we breathed deeply, moved slowly, and transformed everyday self-care into a moment of meditation.

As part of this intimate retreat circle, attendees were also among the very first to experience and preview the newest generation of House of Honey Belle skincare, which will officially launch this summer in celebration of our 11th birthday.

Sharing these formulations in such a small and heartfelt setting felt especially meaningful. In many ways, it reminded us that House of Honey Belle has always been about more than skincare. It has always been about creating rituals that help us come home to ourselves.

To be able to unveil this next chapter surrounded by nature, friendship, and community felt like the most beautiful way to begin.

And perhaps that's what Root & Return was really about all along — not escaping life, but returning to it with greater intention, together.

Held by Nature

The land itself became part of the experience.

We walked slowly through the campsite. We gathered around evening embers. We watched the children play freely, pets wander happily, and strangers become companions.

Without the distractions of everyday life, there was more room to notice the sound of the wind, the warmth of shared meals, and the simple gift of being together.

It reminded us that connection doesn't have to be complicated.

Sometimes it looks like sitting around a campfire.

Sometimes it looks like laughing over games.

Sometimes it looks like simply sharing space.

Community Makes the Experience

Root & Return would not have been possible without the beautiful communities, brands, and partners who helped bring the weekend to life.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to soak in the memories from this first gathering, we're already dreaming about where Root & Return might take us next.

Perhaps another canyon.

Perhaps the mountains.

Perhaps the desert.

Perhaps somewhere entirely new.

What we know for certain is that the heart of the retreat will remain the same:

To create spaces where people can root into what matters, rest into simplicity, and return to themselves — together.

Until next time.

Spring 2027.
