What to pack, how to stay comfy, and ways to prioritize wellness on summer getaways
Planning a summer trip while growing a little human? First of all—go you. Whether it's a babymoon, a family reunion, or a last adventure before baby arrives, traveling during pregnancy is totally doable (and even enjoyable!) with the right preparation. Here’s how to make your summer travel smooth, safe, and nourishing—for both you and baby.

1. Pack Light, But Smart
Instead of overstuffing your suitcase, focus on essentials that make you feel good:
-
Flowy, breathable clothing: Think maxi dresses, linen sets, and maternity bike shorts. Anything that keeps you cool and unbothered.
-
Supportive shoes: Swollen feet are real. Pack sandals or sneakers with arch support that are easy to slip on and off.
-
Maternity swimsuit: If you're near a pool, lake, or ocean—take advantage. Floating can ease tension and swelling.
-
A lightweight wrap or scarf: Great for layering, doubling as a blanket on the plane, or creating a little privacy when needed.
A lightweight wrap that I got at the local store, tube top, and biker shorts.
2. Create a Comfort Kit
Keep a mini wellness pouch in your carry-on or beach bag with these pregnancy-friendly items:
-
Hydrating face mist or body spray (Try: Hydrating Facial Tonic)
-
Natural nausea or motion sickness remedies, ie ginger chews or peppermint oil (Try: Mintyblend Roll-on Remedy)
-
Snacks with protein and fiber to keep energy up
-
Electrolyte packets or coconut water
-
Belly balm or moisturizer for itchy, stretching skin
-
Compression socks for longer flights or car rides
- A Gua Sha to help relief any tension (Try: Butterfly Gua Sha)
Love using Butterfly Gua Sha to help release tension around my hips and also neck/shoulder area.
3. Plan Your Pace
Pregnancy isn’t the time to fill your itinerary with nonstop sightseeing. Build in time for:
-
Rest between activities
-
Movement that feels good—gentle stretches, walking, floating
-
Nap breaks when possible
-
Listening to your body. Let slow be your rhythm.
4. Stay Cool & Hydrated & Fed
Summer heat can feel extra intense during pregnancy. Prioritize:
-
Staying in the shade or choosing indoor spots during peak sun hours
-
Drinking water consistently throughout the day
-
Cooling down with a fan, mist, or cold towel when needed
-
Making sure you get some nourishment for you and baby -- mama's gotta eat!
Comforting bone broth and kimchi fried rice~
5. Know Your Comfort Zones
Before you go, consider:
-
The distance from your healthcare provider (especially in the third trimester)
-
Booking accommodations that are peaceful, quiet, and clean
-
Knowing where the nearest hospital or urgent care is—just in case
Enjoying my lil bump~
6. Say Yes to Support
Whether you’re traveling with your partner, friends, or family, let others help you carry the bags, grab your water, or wait in line. There’s strength in receiving support, especially when you’re doing the incredible work of growing life.
This is a journey of leaning in and allowing my partner to support me!
7. Be Present & Enjoy It
This chapter—pregnancy in the summertime—is fleeting. Savor the slow mornings, the golden hour walks, the joy of being somewhere new. You’re not just traveling for yourself—you’re making memories your little one will one day hear stories about.
